The Lantzville Market
At just north of Nanaimo, Lantzville has a lot of the same features and characteristics in its homes. The real estate market is definitely less diverse, though, swapping the waterfront condos with quainter properties. That being said, Lantzville is considered a great option for commuters because of its location close to the city.
Most of the properties on the Lantzville market are single-family homes, though some multi-family properties are available. New construction projects in particular favour duplexes and low-rise apartment projects, both of which are built in a more contemporary style. Homes for sale are often constructed in the traditional coastal style, or (if they're new) a more modern take on this.
Properties in the southern portions of Lantzville tend to be on the larger side, but the north side's waterfront homes are the epitome of luxury living. Additionally, many like this community for its scenic neighbourhoods, and views of the water or forest are not uncommon.
Lantzville At A Glance
A big part of Lantzville's appeal is its suburban atmosphere. It has a pretty good range of amenities and facilities, most of which are located on Lantzville Road. However, for more options, the Woodgrove Centre (the largest shopping mall on the entire island) is just a 5-10 minute drive south. The community also has a few landmark buildings, including the Lantzville Pub, which just celebrated its 100 year anniversary.
Beyond shopping and dining, Lantzville hosts small events throughout the year. These are typically posted on social media, and include classes and programs, community walks, holiday events, and more. A majority of the businesses are local. Because of the tourism industry of Lantzville, there are a number of cottages and other vacation rentals available for those spending a short time in the area.
Lantzville is also divided into two distinct sections by Highway 1: Upper Lantzville and Lower Lantzville. There is one bus route (route 31) that serves the community.
Top Lantzville Highlights & Attractions
The community of Lantzville is a mixture of residential, rural, and minor industrial areas. Because of its location on the water, homes with views (or those positioned right on the oceanfront) are popular. However, this often comes at a luxury price point. This also means that many residents are nature-lovers, and Lantzville has a pretty long stretch of beach that is public access. There are several points in which to access the water:
- Eby Road
- Benwaldun Road
- Sebastian Road (with a lookout on Peterson Road)
- Harper Road
- Bayview Road
- Tweedhope Road
- Lavender Road
- Myron Road
- Oar Road
One of the biggest parks in the Lantzville area is Huddlestone Beach, which allows visitors to access the largest beach in the community, as well as a lookout point. There is no camping or overnight parking allowed, however this area is dog friendly. Huddlestone Park is a city park that is located just down the road.
For greater adventures, the hiking trails at Copley Ridge Recreation Area in Upper Lantzville take visitors into the dense forests. Slightly west of this is the Lantzville Lookout trail, which is renowned for its views of the community. Arbutus Grove Provincial Park is another park in the vicinity, though the signage is often criticized for being poor and it can be difficult to navigate around for visitors.
