The Cedar Market
The Cedar real estate market comprises single-family homes and, on occasion, vacant plots of land. Because this is a more rural community, homes can be older, though they are a mixture of bungalows and multi-storey homes.
While there are some new construction properties for sale in Cedar, the newest neighbourhood is the eastern Cedar-By-The-Sea, which is located in the community's east end on the waterfront. Additionally, a lot of homebuyers will purchase an older home or tear-down and then renovate accordingly. A large part of this is due to lot sizes being larger and prices being lower than its neighbouring community Nanaimo, so Cedar presents a lot of opportunities for investment.
One of the biggest draws to life in Cedar is the lots themselves. These homes offer buyers a lot of privacy, often with mature trees on the property that add a lot of charm and curb appeal. And for those who desire views of the water—Cedar has that, too. For luxury buyers, this community does sometimes offer private coastal properties.
